Particle Image/Tracking Velocimetry methods are common methods for planar & volumetric flow measurements to date. These methods have many advantageous features, however also some critical drawbacks for, in particular, boundary layer flow measurements. The central drawback being rooted in the tracing of seeding particles. We propose novel techniques (based on Schlieren and molecular tagging velocimetry) in combination with AI / ML to deduce velocity & pressure fields. The main objective is to target these two central challenges:
– How can measurements cover both near wall and outer flow dynamics simultaneously?
– How can we bridge the Re-gap between DNS and EFD?
